Lifework Quality Courses
LifeWork is a national American Heart Association (AHA) Training Center. We are also affiliated with American Safety and Health Institute (ASHI), EMS Safety Services, and National Health & Safety Council. Offering a variety of training courses, we typically teach more than 4000 students per year in basic and advanced life support skills.
Lifework conveniently travels to offices, worksites, private homes, or community centers for customized courses. Our instructors are carefully selected professionals dedicated to saving lives.

Heartsaver Courses (non-professional)
Heartsaver CPR AED
Heartsaver CPR AED is a video-based, instructor-led credentialed course that teaches CPR and AED use. LifeWork participants practice real-life scenarios individually and as teams allowing for improved skill retention.
Heartsaver First Aid
A video-based, instructor-led credentialed course that teaches students critical skills to manage an emergency in the first few minutes until emergency medical services arrives. Students discuss and learn first aid actions for medical, injury, and environmental emergencies.
Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid, CPR, & AED
This course is designed to meet the regulatory requirements for child care workers in all 50 U.S. states. It teaches child care providers and others to respond to illnesses and injuries in a child or infant in the first few minutes until professional help arrives.
Heartsaver Bloodborne Pathogens
Students learn how to protect themselves and others from being exposed to blood or blood-containing materials. This course is designed to meet Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements for bloodborne pathogens training, paired with site-specific instruction.
Family & Friends CPR
Family & Friends CPR is for those who want to learn CPR, but do not need a course completion card to meet a job requirement. This course is ideal for community groups, new parents, grandparents, babysitters, and others interested in learning how to save a life.
Healthcare Professionals (BLS/ACLS/PALS)
BLS (CPR & AED for Professionals)
The BLS Instructor-led classroom course teaches both single-rescuer and team basic life support skills for application in both prehospital and in-facility environments, with a focus on High-Quality CPR and team dynamics. Participants must pass skills and written evaluations.
Heartcode BLS (Online/Blended Renewal)
Through a variety of eLearning assets, self-directed learning, and interactive activities, this course is designed for the experienced professional needing credentialed renewal with current BLS knowledge and skills. Participants complete online and in-person learning and skills performance activities.
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
This advanced 2-day classroom course highlights high-performance team dynamics and communication, systems of care, acute dysrhythmia, recognition and intervention of cardiopulmonary arrest, immediate post-cardiac arrest, stroke, and acute coronary syndromes. Dysrhythmia interpretation skills are an important pre-requisite for successful course completion.
ACLS Update Course (Renewal)
This advanced 1-day classroom course is designed for the experienced professional needing credentialed renewal with current ACLS knowledge and skills. Highlights include high-performance team dynamics and systems of care, with review of cardiopulmonary arrest intervention, immediate post-cardiac arrest care, stroke, and acute coronary syndromes.
Heartcode ACLS (Online/Blended Renewal)
Heartcode ACLS is a combination of self-directed eLearning, followed by in-person learning and skills performance. This course is designed for the experienced professional needing credentialed renewal with current ACLS knowledge and skills. Average time to completion is 4 hours.
ACLS for Experienced Providers
Improves outcomes in complex cardiovascular, respiratory and other (eg, metabolic, toxicologic) emergencies by expanding on core ACLS guidelines and encouraging critical thinking and decision-making strategies. Through instruction and active participation in case-based scenarios, learners enhance their skills in the differential diagnosis and treatment of pre-arrest, arrest and post-arrest patients.
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
PALS is a classroom, video-based, Instructor-led course that uses a series of simulated pediatric emergencies to reinforce the important concepts of a systematic approach to pediatric assessment, basic life support, PALS treatment algorithms, effective resuscitation and team dynamics.
ECG Pharmacology
This classroom-based course is designed to improve electrocardiogram (ECG) recognition skills and pharmacology knowledge for treating cardiovascular emergencies. Course content includes basic electrophysiology, arrhythmia recognition, and ACLS medication administration.
Online, Blended & Renewal Courses
Heartcode BLS (Online/Blended Renewal)

Participants complete online and in-person learning and skills performance activities.

The eLearning portion of the Heartsaver CPR AED Blended Learning Course and is designed to teach students information needed for CPR and AED training. Upon completion of the online portion, students must complete hands-on skills session with an AHA Instructor.
Heartsaver First Aid (Online/Blended)
The eLearning portion of the Heartsaver First Aid Blended Learning Course and is designed to teach students information needed for CPR and AED training. Upon completion of the online portion, students must complete hands-on skills session with an AHA Instructor.
Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED (Online /Blended)

Part I: The Instructor Candidate must fulfill prerequisites:
- Complete a BLS level provider course
- Demonstrate exceptional provider skills
- Demonstrate mastery of cognitive content
- Be accepted by an AHA Training Center
Part II: Successfully complete the BLS Instructor classroom course
Part III: Upon completion of Parts I and II, candidates are eligible to be monitored as a new instructor. Candidates must be monitored and demonstrate proficiency in organizing and teaching an actual BLS or Heartsaver course within 6 months of completing the classroom course.

- LifeWork ACLS Instructors are experienced Healthcare Professionals
Part II: Successfully complete the Heartsaver Instructor classroom course
Part III: Upon completion of Parts I and II, candidates are eligible to be monitored as a new instructor. Candidates must be monitored and demonstrate proficiency in organizing and teaching an actual ACLS course within 6 months of completing the classroom course.
